We aim to allow you to book quick and easy appoinments. Usually available on the same day.

It does not matter if you have an acute medical complaint or a chronic medical problem that requires management, here at maimon medical we are happy to see both.

The Doctors Clinics are an independently owned GP-led clinic that is accessible and tailored to meet your individual needs. We offer quick and easy access to appointments so there’s no long waiting times to see a GP. We aim to see our patients within 24 hours and the surgery is open 6 days a week – see our opening times.

We offer longer appointment times to give you quality time with our friendly GPs. This allows them to better understand and listen to your healthcare needs, and helps build a meaningful, lasting two-way relationship.

Your patient journey begins with booking an appoinment via our online portal. We then aim to see you quickly in a face to face consultation.

Your medical consultation will include a thorough history, and clinical examination. If a prescription is required than it will be issued via a private prescription which you can take to any chemist.

Once the consultation has ended the patient journey is still not completed. We make sure to hand the baton over by writing to your own NHS GP updating them of your medical journey with any advice i.e. new medications so that any changes are thus carried forward.

Your name on companies house and CQC is interesting...... Where does the name come from?

Why the name Maimon?

Although we trade under different trading names, such as Manchester Psychiatry Clinic. Our name on Companies House is Maimon Medical which is named after Maimonides who was an ancient Jewish philosopher, physician and astronomer. He was the personal physician of Saladin who was a famous Sultan in the 10th century.

Maimonides was a preeminent doctor, physician famous for his achievements in medicine. One of his more important medical works is his Guide to Good Health (Regimen Sanitatis), which he composed in Arabic for the Sultan al-Afdal, son of Saladin, who suffered from depression.

Maimonides was way ahead of his generation in his understanding of mental illness.

Maimonides possessed many great qualities that we strive to emulate here at Maimon Medical, which is the reason for our name.

You can read more about Maimonides in the Wikipedia article, which can be accessed by clicking his picture below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — a private psychaitrist can prescribe controlled drugs in the UK, but only when it is clinically appropriate and done under strict regulatory guidelines. At Manchester Psychiatry Clinic, controlled medicines are prescribed cautiously, following a full assessment and with the correct legal documentation in place. Some medications, such as those used in ADHD treatment, may also require specialist psychiatric input before a prescription can be issued.

Where necessary, and with your permission, we will also update your NHS GP so your medical records stay accurate and safe. If you have questions about controlled medications or whether they may be suitable for your condition, our doctors can guide you during your consultation.

Yes — a private GP can make an NHS referral, and many patients choose this route when they need fast assessment and clear guidance. At The Doctor Clinics, we regularly write referral letters for NHS services, including hospital specialists, imaging, and community teams. The NHS provider then decides on acceptance based on clinical need and local pathways, but the referral itself is fully valid.

Most patients appreciate this because it avoids delays: you’re seen quickly by our doctor, you get a detailed referral letter, and we can also copy your NHS GP so your records stay accurate. If you’re unsure whether your situation is suitable for an NHS referral, your doctor will explain all your options during the consultation.

Private GPs don’t have automatic access to your NHS medical records. However, with your permission, we can request the information we need from your NHS GP — for example, previous results, medication history, or important letters. Many patients also choose to share screenshots or documents from the NHS App during their appointment, which is perfectly acceptable for clinical decision-making.

At The Doctor Clinics, we always make sure your care remains safe and joined-up. After your consultation, and only with your consent, we can send a summary back to your NHS GP so your records stay accurate. This means you get the best of both worlds: fast private care without losing continuity within the NHS.
