Dr M Schauder

Dr Michael Schauder is a highly experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 40 years of clinical practice across South Africa, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

He began his career in South Africa, where he worked extensively with children and families, and was appointed as a Family Court Expert conducting specialist assessments in complex legal cases involving child welfare and family dynamics.

Following licensure in the United States in 1997, Dr Schauder relocated to the UK in 1998 to take up a Consultant Clinical Psychologist post within the NHS. He worked across Salford and Trafford in Adult Mental Health Services, later moving into a specialist role in neuropsychological assessments within secondary care services across Salford, Bolton, and Trafford. He retired from the NHS in 2015.

Dr Schauder has since worked in private practice, seeing clients across all age groups and providing clinical supervision to mental health professionals.

A significant part of his current work involves supporting the Orthodox Jewish community. As Senior Clinical Supervisor for NCUK, he oversees the delivery of mental health services to Orthodox Jewish schools, bringing a culturally sensitive and nuanced understanding of the community’s needs. His experience in this area allows him to provide tailored, respectful, and effective psychological care within this population.

Dr Schauder’s work is characterised by depth of experience, cultural awareness, and a strong commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred care.

"I’d spent most of my adult life wondering why everything felt harder for me—keeping organised, finishing tasks, managing my emotions. I always pushed through, thinking I just had to try harder. It wasn’t until I stumbled on some ADHD content online that things started to click." "After researching options, I found Manchester Psychiatry and booked their ADHD assessment package. From the very start, the process felt respectful, clear, and supportive. I had an initial consultation with Dr. Gadi Shalom, who immediately made me feel seen and understood. He was kind, incredibly knowledgeable, and really took the time to listen. I was referred on for a full assessment with their clinical partners, and everything was handled with care and professionalism." "When I was diagnosed with ADHD, it explained so much. But what truly changed things was the follow-up care. Dr. Shalom didn’t just hand over a prescription—he helped me understand how ADHD works, how it affects the brain, and how we could manage it together. His understanding of dopamine and the brain's executive functioning gave me a totally new way of seeing myself." "A few months on, I feel calmer, more capable, and—for the first time—hopeful. I’m still me, but now I understand why I work the way I do. The support I’ve received at Manchester Psychiatry, especially from Dr. Shalom, has transformed the way I live my life. I can’t thank them enough."
